Stephanie Alexander School Garden Project
Alawa School Kitchen Garden
Thursday 10 June - 10am

On Thursday June 10th this week Stephanie Alexander will be in Darwin to officially open the Alawa School Kitchen Garden.

This is the first Kitchen Garden to be established in the NT as part of the national Kitchen Garden scheme in primary schools. Another kitchen garden is under way in Driver.

Slow Food Darwin and Top End has supported this project with a $2000 donation last year for the school to buy a fridge and freezer for the kitchen.

All are welcome to attend the event which will be at the Alawa School at Pett St Alawa, tel(08) 8927 9122.

Activities will begin at 10am with a morning tea and tour of the garden and the official opening will be at 11.30am.

Join us for the first official Slow Food event for 2010 at YOTS in Cullen Bay.

Chef and owner Evan is enthusiastic about hosting his second Slow Food dinner and promises another memorable event. An evening in celebration of Greek cuisine and food traditions and how local Top End produce is incorporated into recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation.
